Brunei’s Startup Gallop Air makes history

Gallop Air, Brunei’s newly start-up aviation company, made history on 15th September 2023 by inking a deal to buy 30 aircraft from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), making GallopAir the biggest overseas buyer outside China.

The LOI outlines GallopAir’s intention to purchase a total of 30 aircraft, including 15 ARJ21 aircraft, 3 of which are freighters, 1 ARJ21 business jet, 1 ARJ21 medical plane, and 15 C919 aircraft, with a combined worth of USD 2 billion.

GallopAir Sdn Bhd was incorporated on 11th January 2023 in Brunei Darussalam. In terms of investment capital and ownership share, GallopAir Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based entity, serves as the main shareholder in GallopAir Sdn Bhd, with several Chinese investors holding minority stakes in the company. Informatively, GallopAir Pte Ltd is wholly owned by Shaanxi Tianju Investment Group in China, with diverse spread of industries within the Group.
